Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
What a month this last one has been. The Lord has blessed in great and mighty ways here in Peru and in the churches. The Lord has allowed us to see over 20 people saved through the ministry that the Lord has allowed us to start. Please pray that the Lord will continue to show his power here in Belaunde, and also all around Arequipa and Peru. Last month we wrote you and let you know that we were planning on starting a church in another section of Arequipa. The Lord has already let us rent a place. It looks as though we will be paying a little less that $20 a month. That seems like very little I know, but I can promise you that we are not getting more than what we are paying for. We went out and bought the chairs, the pulpit and other things just the other day. We will be starting this church on October the 8th. Please be praying that the Lord would put his hand on my life, and that the people that come might hear from the Holy Spirit. The name of this town is Ciudad Blanca. In English this means White city. This town is incredibly large with no gospel preaching church anywhere around. This name reminds me every time of the verse that says that the fields are white unto harvest. I believe that this whole city is white unto harvest and waiting for someone to go out and do the work. Pray that the Lord will give us the strength and the desire to do what he has called us to do. I honestly believe that the Lord is coming back soon. Because of this, after much prayer, my wife and I have decided that the work needs to be done. We decided to not wait until someone sent the money but to start with our own money and expect the Lord to provide. The great thing is that he hasn’t failed us yet. If anyone would be interested in helping with this church please let us know. It costs close to $1000 dollars to start a church. If you would be willing to help, please send a check to Macedonia Missions and mark it for NEW CHURCH. The lack of money will never take away the reality that there are souls dying and going to an eternal hell. Please be praying for Percy. I will be working with him with the goal to later leave him the church. Please pray that the Lord will make him strong.
I also ask you to be in prayer for Juan. He came up to me the other day and told me that he has a burning desire to start a church also. I told him that we would start one, but that he needed to pray and ask the Lord to provide. I will actually be starting this church. And within some time, when the church is running well and Juan is ready for it, I will hand it over to him. Pray that the Lord would give us both wisdom to know where and when to start this new church. There are literally thousands within a couple miles that have never heard the gospel.
Please be praying also for Lighthouse Baptist Church, Belaunde. I praise the Lord that He is raising up a mighty church. They have a great burden for missionaries and the work of missions. To start the new church, they gave close to fifty dollars to buy the sign. I thank God for their burden. We are now supporting a total of 7 missionaries for a total of close to $85 a month. We have people from 4 years old to 85 years old giving in faith promise missions. Every month, each of our Sunday School classes has one missionary that they pray for specifically and try and do something special for him throughout that month. Every week they pray for something specific that the missionary has asked prayer for. One of the teenagers in my church came up to me the other day and asked me how long it was going to be before he could start his own church to tell others about Christ. He already brings quite a few visitors, he sings with all his heart, and he has a burning desire to do something for God. I told him to just keep doing what he was doing until the Lord began to move him. He told me that he thought that the Lord was already moving him. He said that I had preached that the Lord was coming back soon and that he might not become old enough to start his own church. I told him that his best bet was to become my right hand man and then later on we could talk about it. Please pray for him. He is already asking incredible questions from the Bible and insists that I teach him how to preach. Please pray for Luis that the Lord will use that fire in a special way. Also pray that the Lord would give me the wisdom to know how to funnel that fire into doing something great and mighty for Him.
I would like to thank everyone of you that has spent special time in prayer for the Lord to provide us a computer to work with. The Lord has blessed us by giving us one now. I thank all the people who have given so kindly toward this cause. We thank you for your special prayers and support. Without these, there is no way that the ministry here in Peru would be successful. Thank you so much and may God richly bless you in all that you do for Him.
