Who's my Daddy!
The Juan Pacheco Story
by
W. Austin Gardner
How devastating! Juan had just returned home from the Bible college to talk to his mother. Juan had always lived with his mother. His dad and mom were separated. At least that is what he thought until that fateful day. Juan "knew" who his dad was! It hurt that he didn't show much interest, but at least he had a dad. Then his mother told him. "I never was sure which of the three was your daddy!" How could that be? How could his mother wait until he was 25 years old and then tell him that she wasn't even sure who his dad was? Now the man that he thought was his dad was saying that it wasn't true.
Juan had a real drinking problem. Even as a young man he had constantly gotten drunk. He would go the Belaunde Baptist church to visit. He wanted help. He wanted to change. He made a profession of faith but it didn't help. Soon he was drinking again.
Gonzalo Huaman invited Juan to church. Before they drank together now Gonzalo wanted him to know what a difference the Lord Jesus had made in his life. He attended and liked what he heard. He wanted to change. When he was sober he would ask his pastor to help him. He would love the church and the young missionary. But just let him get drunk. He would accuse the young missionary of any and everything. He would curse him, even throw rocks at him. He hated everything he stood for because he just couldn't change.
Juan testifies that what finally made the difference in him was that someone loved him even when he didn't deserve it. He didn't have a real family. He didn't even know who his dad was but Brother Chris loved him anyway. Even though he cursed him, accused him, tried to hurt him and threw rocks at him, he was loved.
Love won the battle. Juan is now saved and a faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. He is studying in Bible College and wants to be missionary. He testifies that just knowing that someone loved him made the difference. In our churches he found a new family. He found people that really cared. He now wants to give his life loving others.
People need the Lord. They just need to be loved by someone. What a thrill when they learn that they are loved by the most important person of all time, the Lord God himself.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
